ABOUT
THE OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY:
- For most people it is a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience
- Villagers of Oberammergau in Bavaria, Germany perform the Passion Play every 10 years
since 1634. The last time the play was performed was
in the year 2000 and it's next performance is set for 2010.
- The performance portrays the Passion of Christ—from the entry into
Jerusalem to the Resurrection
- The Passion Play Theater has an open-air stage framed by verdant alpine
scenery and the covered auditorium has almost 5,000 seats.
- More than 2,000 actors, singers, musicians, and technicians are involved
in the production which starts a year in advance.
